Earth Sings Back to Us

If you heard the video below, it may sound like the call of an extraterrestrial bird species, but the recording featured in the video is actually made by earth. Scientists call this sequence of quavering whooping sounds "chorus" also well known as 'Earthsong'.

If you get fascinated about space talk, you would remember back in October, NASA discovered the Earth was "singing" to us.

In technical words, it is an electromagnetic phenomenon caused by plasma waves in Earth's radiation belts. The result of all those loose electrons whizzing around up there was called "Chorus," that turned out to sound like whale song mixed with crickets.

But that noise was given a special treatment by the inhabitants of our planet. The recording was turned into a remix along with some interpretive dance. Kerry Muzzey, a writer of TV and movie themes (including one from Glee) added the sound effects; the dance was choreographed by DS2DIO (pronounced D-studio), a popular YouTube lifestyle channel with nearly 10 million total views.

The whole video, a lovely dedication to our planet was directed by Emmy-nominated choreographer Christopher Scott.
