It's that time once again when everyone starts buzzing over the latest Apple release dates. The iPad 5 is due to be out before the end of this year and the latest hush-hush rumours suggest that September is the safest bet for a release. Of course, this has changed over and over again, but here's the latest...
All Quiet at Apple
As is often the case, Apple won't say a word until they are absolutely ready for everyone to know. They are well aware of the buzz that these announcements create and are more than happy for us to work ourselves up into a frenzy of expectation just as long as it keeps their name in the news. History doesn't help us too much either, as Apple don't tend to do things on a particularly set time-frame. The iPad 4, for example, came out just six months after the iPad 3, when really everyone expected them to leave it closer to a year before updating the item.
Waiting for Friends
The current rumour mill is saying that Apple is currently holding off on releasing the iPad 5 until they are ready with their new tablet device and the iPad 2 Mini; that way, they can go all out with an advertising campaign that highlights a number of new products in one go. Apple are fond of releasing things in batches, so expect all of these to be announced and most likely hit the stores at the exact same time. If this goes ahead as predicted, it could be one of the biggest release days in Apple's history, which is just the type of media attention that they love. It's pretty easy to trade in or sell up to make money from your iPad if you fancy picking up the latest model in a couple of months and you'll probably have a few options to pick from.
In Production
According to sources out of China, the actual production of the new iPad 5 models is due to take place in August so that they are ready to ship worldwide for the September release date. Apple suppliers (such as those that make the batteries and other accessories) are also due to get their stock ready in August, ready to meet demand after the release. This is about the closest to "concrete" evidence you will find, so hopefully it's accurate.
Get Ready to Upgrade
If the rumours are to be believed (and it all seems highly likely), there will be an abundance of new Apple items in September. This is perfectly timed to create a buzz leading up to Christmas and hopefully, the upgrades made to the latest iPad model will go down well.
Of course, all this talk is well and good, but at the end of the day, Apple are the guys in control, so don't bank on anything just yet. With luck, we'll get that big multi-item release day in September and we shall have a few new toys to play with before Christmas.
